Dr Chen completed her PhD entitled ‘Polymerization of Monomers with Hoop Pine to Enhance Hardness for Apopearance Grade Applicationt’ under the supervision of Prof Andrew Whittaker in 2004. She joined the Polymer Research Group at the beginning of 2006, and will be working in the field of solid-state NMR.

Areas of Interest:

>Applications of polymer

Wood-polymer composites
Biodegradable polymer for Orthopaedic
Photolithography

>Polymer synthesis

Methacrylate polymer
Biodegradable polymer

>Polymer characterization

Nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (solution NMR, solid-state NMR, NMR imaging)
Vibrational spectroscopy (FTIR and Raman microscopy)
Scanning electron microscopy

  • Research:
    >Synthesis and performance of novel polymer resists for 193 nm immersion lithography
    > Surface degradable Networks for Orthopaedic applications
