High Resolution NMR Spectroscopy

The high resolution NMR facility at CMR caters for spectroscopic investigations in solution with applications across the chemical, biochemical and physical sciences. The facilities include the Bruker Avance 500 MHz and 750 MHz spectrometers and access through QNN to the highest field facility in Australia, the Avance II+ 900 MHz spectrometer.

The 500 MHz spectrometer is used for study of small to intermediate-sized molecules, for synthetic polymers, kinetics, multi-nuclear NMR and other applications.
The higher field spectrometers enhance the capacity for structural biologists to study the larger and more complex biomacromolecules such as proteins and DNA and allow structure determinations of natural products of limited quantities.

The facilities are available to researchers across the University and to external institutions on a consultative or collaborative basis, and training is available in use of the facilities.
