Magnetic Resonance
Imaging
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is an ideal tool for studying live subjects because radio waves and magnetic fields are relatively safe for biological tissue. The centre has 1.5T, 3T and 4T magnets at two centres - St Lucia, and The Wesley Hospital.
Cost:
If you would like to use the scanners for a project, the cost is as follows:
| Sonata |
$400 per hour |
4T |
$600 per hour |
3T |
$500 per hour |
Prof Graham Galloway can be contacted to organise a quote or discuss special arrangements.
Running your project:
The Centre provides free service and advice to get your scans started. Projects can be conducted collaboratively or independently. (Usual academic rules apply with respect to publications.)
The Centre will also provide free safety training before your scans start, necessary when working in the MR environment.
