UQ Food Characterization Group

The Food Characterization Group is a new University of Queensland initiative spanning two faculties and having facilities at both the St Lucia and Gatton Campuses of the University.

The aims of the FCG are to advance the knowledge in the field of food science, most specifically in the areas of characterization of food, and the effects of processing on food properties.

The FCG has a number of core activities, including research into a number of disciplines, teaching, and holding research seminars and workshops.

The aims of the Food Characterization group are to:

  • Conduct leading research in a number of key areas of food science and processing

  • Provide a focus for food research within Australia

  • Provide an outstanding educational environment for food scientists
